…Urges NNPCL to Work Diligently to Ensure Timely Completion

A high-powered delegation from Bauchi and Gombe States, comprising the Commissioners of Natural Resources Development, Hon Muhammad Maiwada Bello, Commissioner of Commerce Trade & Investment Hon. Muhammad Salis Gamawa from Bauchi and Hon Sunusi Ahmad Pindiga Commissioner of Energy & Mineral Resources from Gombe State respectively, visited the Kolmani Oil Project Site.
The commissioners expressed dissatisfaction over the slow pace of work on the project.
The two commissioners requested the company handling the project to provide them with the overview, including the expected completion time to enable close monitoring and intervention where necessary.
While commending the management of the NNPC Limited for given fair hearing to affected states, the commissioners charged them to fast tract the completion of the project with a view to mitigate revenue leakages and boost the economy of the area and Nigeria as a whole.
“Our community are eager to know the position of this important project, we are protecting their right and interest, we lost revenue every day , let’s collaborate and work with all stakeholders to push this project to completion”, Bello emphasized.
He further stated the need for transparency and accountability in the project management. “We need to ensure that the project is completed in time and meets the expectations of the people of Bauchi and Gombe States.
“The project is crucial to the development of our states, and we need to ensure that it is completed without further delays. We will work closely with the company to address the concerns of the host community.”
Also speaking, Hon Sunusi Ahmad Pindiga, Commissioner of Energy and Mineral Resources from Gombe State, emphasized the need for providing the comprehensive update on the project.
“We need a comprehensive overview of the project to have a clear picture of the exercise,” he said.
“The project is a vital component of our states’ development plans, and we need to ensure that it is completed in time and within budget. We will work closely with the company to address any challenges and ensure the project’s success.”
“We expect the company to prioritize transparency and accountability in project management. We need to ensure that the project benefits the local communities and meets the expectations of the people of the affected states.”
Mr. Unique, Base Manager AOML, promised to forward the complaints shared by the two states to the higher authorities for appropriate action.
He appreciated the cordial relationship with the host communities of Bauchi and Gombe States and described the joint session as a great achievement.
The delegation included Commissioners, Parmanent secretaries, Directors of petroleum Resources, members of traditional institutions representing the affected communities from Both states and the Rector Oil & Gas Academy Alkaleri, Bauchi State.
The Kolmani Integrated Development Project is a vital component of the economic development of Bauchi and Gombe States. The delegation’s visit underscores the need for transparency, accountability, and collaboration in project management. With the commitment of the company and the governments of both states, the project can be completed successfully to benefit the people of Bauchi, Gombe and Nigeria as a whole.
