The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Sa’adu Zungur University, Bauchi Chapter has called on the Bauchi State Government to pay its members all their earned allowances, pension, gratuity and promotion arrears as promised during electioneering campaigns.

The chairperson of the union, Comrade Auwal Hussaini Nuhu made the call during a press conference, at the Yuli Campus of the University.

The union also urged Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammad to do the needful by providing adequate funding to the university including staff welfare and infrastructural development among others.

He emphasized the need for Bauchi State Government to abide by the two percent and five percent of the State and Local Governments monthly grants formula respectively allocated for the funding of the university as stipulated in the University Law to enable it carry out its activities effectively.

The union lamented that over 20 PhD holders and other staff who were trained from masters to doctoral degrees by the university, have left the university due to non payment of their excess workload allowances and promotion arrears.
