The Federal Government has supported the Kaltungo Snakebite Hospital with millions of Naira worth of anti snake venom (ASV).
This followed a request of assistance by the Mai Kaltungo, Engineer Saleh Muhammadu, to the Federal Minister of Health, Dr Ali Muhammad Pate during a visit to his office in Abuja.
The Kaltungo Local Government Chairman, Hon. Iliya Suleiman who transported the ASV from Abuja to the hospital in Kaltungo, spoke during the handover ceremony at the hospital, expressed happiness and appreciation to Federal Government for the intervention.
“I recently visited the hospital and the plight of the patients was heartbreaking. This assistance came at a time it is most needed. We thank the Federal Government, the Minister of Health, Dr Ali Pate, the Gombe State Ministry of Health and Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for their support to the hospital.”
Hon Iliya Suleiman said Kaltungo Local Government Council will continue to support the hospital, expressing satisfaction the way hospital staff provide care to patients from different parts of the country.
Also speaking, the Chief Medical Officer of the Snake Bite Hospital, Dr Nicolas Armani Hamman appreciated Mai Kaltungo for his efforts, which made it possible to get the medicine.
He said the medicine would help patients, as they receives about 6 to 7 snake bite cases daily.
After receiving the vaccines, Mai Kaltungo also went round the hospital to check on the condition of patients, prayed for God to grant the patients good health.
The public especially farmers are encouraged to be careful particularly at this harvest time, when snakes lurk in farm produce.
