The College of Education Technical, Dass, has announced that all arrangements have been concluded for the introduction of internal scholarship awards aimed at encouraging excellence and good conduct among its pioneer students.
The Provost of the College, Dr. Kabiru Baraya Aliyu, made this known during the first matriculation ceremony for the 2025/2026 academic session, which held at the college premises.
He explained that the rationale behind the internal scholarship initiative is to improve standards of technical education, as well as boost retention and enrollment of NCE students across the state.
According to him, “matriculation is a cardinal requirement for qualifying any admitted student as a bona fide member of a tertiary institution”.
He urged the newly admitted students to support the management of the college to ensure the smooth running of academic activities.
Dr. Baraya added that the college remains committed not only to providing access to quality education but also to molding students’ character to become future leaders.
On academic expansion, the provost disclosed that the institution is making arrangements to introduce degree programmes, postgraduate diploma programmes, innovation diploma programmes, and national diploma programmes.
He also commended the leadership of Bala Muhammad for supporting tertiary institutions, particularly the newly established College of Education Technical, Dass.
While administering the oath of allegiance to about 326 students, the Registrar of the College, Mallam Nasiru Burga, urged the newly admitted students to avoid all forms of misconduct, including cultism, examination malpractice, drug abuse, and indecent dressing.
In his remarks, the Emir of Dass, Alhaji Usman Bilyaminu Othman, expressed concern over the actions of some stakeholders within the emirate, accusing them of undermining efforts to uphold standards at the institution.
He lamented that such behavior devalues the college and sabotages ongoing initiatives aimed at maintaining academic excellence and discipline.
The emir also called on parents to support government efforts by enrolling their children in the college.
