The Bauchi State Government is set to establish an Agency for the development border projects.

The State Deputy Governor and Chairman Bauchi State Boundary Commission, Muhammad Auwal Jatau made this known when he led a sensitization and enlightenment campaign to Shira, Giade, Zaki and Itas-Gadau local government areas.

He said “The rational behind of this campaign is to address boundary disputes through tracing and demarcation of boundaries, ultimately finding lasting solutions to the challenges”.

He sai the move aims to provide social amenities to the rural communities in all the affected local governments that shares boundaries with Jigawa and Yobe states.

Auwal Jatau through his Special Assistant on Boundary Matters Alhaji Ahmad Garba, said establishing the agency in the state would no doubt empower boarder communities with developmental projects, including schools, hospitals, and electricity among others.

He said Bauchi State Government, under Governor Bala Muhammad’s leadership, has implemented an open-door policies to resolve boundary disputes amicably.

Auwal Jatau announced that the Joint Committee from the National Boundary Commission (NBC) will visit the state on January 12th, 2025, for field compilation and additional field exercise.

A consultant from Bauchi State Boundary Commission, Mr. Moses Garba Ubans, emphasized the significance of understanding the history of the border communities.

In their sperate remarks, the Deputy Chairperson of Giade Local Government, Bahijja Auwal and their counterparts of Shira LGA Adamu Usman, Zaki LGA Ibrahim Chiroma Katagum and representative of Deputy Chairman of Itas-Gadau LGA Aminu Adamu Mashema commended the State Boundary Commission’s efforts and promised to utilize the acquired knowledge to address boundary disputes in their domains.

The Sensitization and Enlightenment Campaign Team was also at Warji and Ganjuwa Local Governments on a similar purpose.
