…Charges Participants on Diligence, Institutional Devt
The Gombe State College of Health Sciences and Technology (GSCHST), Kaltungo, has held a one-day colloquium focused on promoting excellence and diligence as key drivers of institutional growth and improved service delivery.
In a statement signed and made available to Jewel Times by the College’s Information and Protocol Officer, Danta Istifanus Taktak, the colloquium was organised by the Directorate of Research and Development under the theme, “Leveraging Excellence and Diligence: Catalysts for Institutional Growth.”
The Acting Provost/Sole Administrator of the College, Dr. Umar Mohammed, who served as chairman and moderator of the event, said excellence and diligence were essential to achieving sustainable institutional development.
Dr. Mohammed urged participants to take the presentations serious, noting that the six topics were carefully selected to enhance service delivery, human capacity development and quality assurance among staff.
He described excellence as “the art of executing tasks correctly, even in resource-constrained environments,” while defining diligence as “the consistent application of effort, independent of external surveillance.”
The Acting Provost also commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his educational policies and programmes, as well as efforts to create an enabling environment for the development of the College.
He said the government had continued to do its best within available resources to address the needs of educational institutions, adding that such support should be complemented by collective commitment, professionalism and dedication among staff.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Research, Publication and Public Lecture Committee, Dr. Nassai Ishaku, underscored the importance of the colloquium, saying a culture of excellence and diligence in both academic and administrative responsibilities was vital to sustainable organisational growth.
The colloquium featured presentations by Mr. John Joshua Buba, Mr. Sulaiman Ishiyaka, Mr. Tamin Daniel, Mr. Abdulmumini Salisu, Mrs. Sarah David, and Mrs. Khadija Mohammed.
The speakers emphasised that staff remain a major driving force behind the development of the institution and called for greater commitment to hard work, professionalism and effective service delivery.
They urged principal officers, management, academic and non-academic staff, as well as students, to demonstrate excellence and diligence in their respective responsibilities, stressing that sustained commitment to these values would contribute to the overall growth and development of the College.
