…Says More Reforms Needed to Digitize LGAs

The Director General Bureau for Public Service Reforms (BPSR) Dr Dasuki Ibrahim Arabi, has appreciated the new public service reforms recorded under the stewardship of Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
The DG made this known during a courtesy call on the Permanent Secretary/Director General Gombe State Bureau for Public Service Reforms in his office at the Government House.
The DG also appreciated the Governor for accepting their 2017 submissions for establishing the State Bureau for Public Service Reforms, noting that four states have already keyed into Gombe State steps.
While recommending Gombe style of digital reform for other states, Dr Arabi cited how the state’s IGR improved from 6 billion in 2019 to over 40 billion Naira in 2025.
However, Dr Arabi called for the full digitization of payrolls as the state has adopted the biometric system in eliminating ghost workers.
He said there is also the need for digital procurement process, civil promotions and implementation.
He also called on the state to embrace paperless policy of governance as started in some federal agencies and some states like Edo which now operate 100% paperless.
He promised to give Gombe additional support to achieve more in that regards, as the case was during the training of directors of procurement.
He promised to consider sons of the soil, for Gombe to excel in all sectors of governance.
On his part, the Permanent Secretary/Director General Gombe State Bureau for Public Service Reforms Alhaji Abubakar Hassan, appreciated the Director General for the encouragement visit on his office.
He promised to sustain any reform proven out to be effective, to promote Gombe State.
He noted that Governor Inuwa Yahaya is ready to adopt any emerging reform from his office.
The permanent secretary added that “Gombe State’s revenue improvement can proof to the world that we are ready, our Governor is ready, noting that the case is same with agencies like GOGIS and Budget preparation and implementation process, fully yielding the desired results after been Digitized by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
He said “The introduction of biometrics in 2021 to all MDAs in Gombe, made the state to save huge amount of money and we have now introduced such digital reform to our payroll. We can authoritatively said we have no ghost workers in Gombe State”.
While noting that “Our preparations are on top gear for the paperless policy in governance, Alhaji Abubakar added that “We are ever ready to welcome more reforms for Gombe State remain more vibrant and relevant in all aspects of governance.
