As part of activities marking Day 4 of the National Police Day 2026 Celebration, The Gombe State Police Commissioner CP Umar Ahmed Chuso has presented cheques to families of deceased police officers who died in the course of duty.
The Commissioner who presented the cheques during a brief ceremony in the command headquarters, said “This gesture was part of the Nigeria Police Force ongoing efforts to improve the welfare of its officers and men”.
CP Chuso who stood in for the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, said “In line with the vision and commitment of the Inspector-General of Police to enhance the welfare and well-being of personnel and their families, a total of thirty-three (33) families of officers who lost their lives in active service under the Gombe State Command will receive cheques of varying amounts, with a total sum of thirty-one million, forty-two thousand, six hundred and sixty-two naira, twenty-eight kobo (₦31,042,662.28), under the Group Life Assurance and Inspector-General of Police Welfare Schemes”.
The CP expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the fallen heroes and assured them that the sacrifices of their loved ones will never be forgotten.
He reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police of continuous support to the families left behind and to uphold the legacy of the deceased officers.
The Command urges the public to continue to support the Police in its efforts to ensure safety and security, while also honouring the memory of officers who dedicated their lives to the service of the nation.
Speaking on behalf of the benefitting families, Joel Taimon, appreciated the IGP, CP Umar and other officers for the care and concern shown to them after their late parents.
He prayed for God’s protection and guidance to all serving officers, wishing them self and fruitful retirement.
The ceremony was graced by senior police officers, families and children of the fallen officers.
