When some wealthy individuals in the country are busy buying food items to hoard and sell at exorbitant prices, the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, CFR, is poised to bring succour to his people.

In the spirit of Ramadan, the Emir distributed assorted food items, such as rice worth millions of Naira to the less privileged and downtrodden masses in the Emirate and beyond. This act of generosity is intended to bring succor especially at this period period of fasting.

Our reporters who visited the palace of the Emir, traced various groups from all walks of life collecting their share under the Emir’s authority.

It can be recalled that the state Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, flagged off the 17th state-wide distribution of palliatives by his government to reduce the hardship being experienced in the country as a result of fuel subsidy removal.

The Emir’s gesture is not a new story in the state, as he has long been sponsoring the studies of many orphans and less privileged children. He has also constructed schools, maternity clinics, and mosques, and provided shelter to the needy.

Some of the beneficiaries, including Mai Talata Yarima of Dawaki ward, Buhari Aliyu of Kumbiya-Kumbiya, and Sa’idu Ahmad Bappa of Ajiya ward and Dorcas Emmanuel of Tumfure described the gesture as one of the best, especially since it comes at a time when people are struggling to put food on the table for their families.

They extolled the Emir’s empathy and kindness towards the welfare of his subjects, praying for Allah’s guidance and protection for the Emir and called on the beneficiaries to use the food items judiciously.

The beneficiaries also urged well-to-do individuals in society to emulate the Emir, adding that doing so would bring relief to the people, especially during this trying period.
