The Gombe State Government has recorded a significant milestone in infrastructural development, achieving over 97.5% completion of road projects under the “Network 1100” initiative.
The project, conceptualized by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya to open rural communities and expand connectivity across the state, has seen extensive progress in the 11 local government areas.
Outgoing Commissioner of Works, Housing, and Transportation, Engr. Usman Maijama’a Kallamu, disclosed this during an official handover ceremony at the ministry.
Reflecting on the administration’s progress, Kallamu noted that while achievements have been consistently above average statewide, performance in certain local government areas has actually exceeded initial construction targets.
“While our administration has achieved significant milestone above average in all the 11 local government areas of the state, in some LGAs our performance is above hundred percent in road constructions”, he added.
In his final address, the former commissioner charged contractors currently handling various road and infrastructure projects to accelerate their operations to ensure timely delivery.
He further urged the ministry’s Permanent Secretary and directors to maintain a culture of strict supervision, ensuring that all ongoing works meet high-quality standards and scheduled deadlines.
Engr. Kallamu expressed his profound appreciation to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for the opportunity to serve the state and extended his gratitude to the ministry’s management and staff for their steadfast support throughout his tenure.
Accepting the transition, the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Ɗanladi Adamu, vowed to build upon the foundation laid by his predecessor.
He appealed for the continued cooperation of the ministry’s workforce to effectively manage the new responsibilities and sustain the current momentum.
The event featured goodwill messages from the Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics, Abubakar Jatau; the Director of Administration, Abubakar Lamuwa; and the Project Manager of Triacta Nigeria Limited, Engr. Imran Khan, all of whom commended the outgoing commissioner for his successful tenure.
The ceremony was attended by family members, relatives, and ministry officials.
