Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has described his cousin, Reverend Dr Amos Musa Mohzo’s re-election as National President of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), as a victory for unity among Christians and Muslims in Nigeria.
He made the statement on Sunday in Maiduguri, noting that the re-election reflects trust, integrity and inclusiveness within the Christian community.
Reverend Mohzo hails from Ngoshe-Sama in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State. He is the first non-Plateau indigene to lead the church since its establishment in 1904 in Wase, Plateau State.
“The re-election of Reverend Dr Amos Musa Mohzo as National President of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) will serve as an avenue to unite members of the Christian community and other faithful members in Nigeria,” Ndume said.
Describing Reverend Mohzo as a man of integrity, humility and service, the senator noted that his cousin’s leadership qualities and commitment to God and humanity earned him another term.
“It will interest you to know that Reverend Mohzo is my cousin who hails from Gwoza. Coming from both Muslim and Christian family backgrounds, I see this victory not only as one for Gwoza and Borno State but for the entire country,” he added.
Senator Ndume commended members of COCIN in Nigeria and in the diaspora for placing their confidence in Reverend Mohzo, urging them to continue promoting harmony and peaceful coexistence.
He also prayed for divine guidance and wisdom for the re-elected president in the discharge of his responsibilities.
Reverend Dr Amos Musa Mohzo, born on 13 November 1964, rose from a humble background to become one of the most respected leaders of the church.
