Gombe NSCDC Assures Peaceful Easter, Deploys 720 Personnel

Posted on April 2, 2026 by Jtimes

In a bid to ensure a peaceful and secure Easter celebration across Gombe State, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Gombe State Command, has deployed 720 personnel to strategic locations within the state.

A statement signed and made available to Jewel Times by the Corps’ Public Relations Officer Chief Superintendent of Corps (CSC) Buhari Sa’ad said the deployment was made by the State Commandant, Commandant Jibrin Idris through an operational order for Easter celebration.

He stated that the deployment is in line with the directive of the Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, to all State Commands to beef up security during the festive period.

According to the Commandant, the operatives, drawn from various departments and specialized units of the Corps, have been directed to maintain high vigilance at worship centres, recreation spots, motor parks, markets, highways, and other public places where large gatherings are expected.

He noted that “Personnel from the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Agro Rangers, Anti-Vandal Squad, Disaster Management Unit, Intelligence Department, and the Female Armed Squad are fully mobilized for the operation”.

The commandant explained that the deployment also covers the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) across the state, including electricity installations, water facilities, railway lines, communication masts, and oil pipelines, to forestall any act of vandalism during the celebration.

He assured residents of the Command’s preparedness to collaborate with other security agencies in the state to guarantee a crime-free Easter, and charged the deployed personnel to be civil, professional, and firm in the discharge of their duties, while respecting the fundamental human rights of citizens.

While felicitating with Christians on the occasion of Easter, the Commandant called on them to use the period to pray for peace, unity, and stability in Gombe State and the nation at large.

He further appealed to members of the public to be security conscious, avoid overcrowded areas, and promptly report any suspicious persons or movements to the nearest security agency.

The command can be reached on 07060573336, 08036766733, 07036142648, 08069135023 for distress calls and useful information.
