The Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN), Gombe Chapter, has commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his decisive approval of the immediate implementation of the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) and Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) salary scales for all health workers in Gombe State.
In a statement co-signed by the Chairman Gombe State Chapter of the association MLS Usman Mohammed and Secretary MLS Ishaya Danladi, the health workers union described the salary increament as a landmark decision that will ultimately mark a pivotal moment in the journey towards enhancing the welfare of healthcare professionals and ensuring a robust health system in the state.
The statement added that “In a rapidly changing world where efficient healthcare delivery is paramount, health workers are the backbone of any successful health system”.
It further noted that “By endorsing the salary structures, Governor Yahaya has signaled his administration’s recognition of the invaluable contributions made by health professionals in saving lives and promoting public health in the state and beyond”.
It added that the initiative not only address the long-standing issues surrounding remuneration in the health sector, but will also reflects a significant commitment to improving the working conditions of all health workers in Gombe State.
Recognizing the challenges that healthcare professionals faced, the association expressed its gratitude for this bold and commendable step taken by the Governor.
“The implementation of CONMESS and CONHESS will undoubtedly pave the way for enhanced job satisfaction among health workers and foster an environment where they can perform their duties with renewed vigor and dedication”, the statement added.
It maintained that financial remuneration is essential for attracting and retaining skilled health professionals, thereby bolstering the quality of care offered to the populace.
The association stressed that the approval demonstrates the gotvernor’s genuine intentions and zeal to transform the healthcare landscape in Gombe State, noting that improved salary structures will likely lead to enhanced productivity, which directly correlates with better health outcomes for the citizens of the State.
The Chairman of the Gombe Chapter, Usman Muhammad, reaffirmed the association’s unwavering commitment to supporting the administration’s vision for a healthier Gombe State through alignment of efforts with the governor’s strategic initiatives, to build a sustainable healthcare system that prioritizes the well-being of the citizens.
