The Gombe State Government has handed over the newly completed Shari’ah Court of Appeal Complex to the court for onward utilization.

Speaking while handing over the new edifice located opposite Federal Secretariat Gombe, the State’s Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transportation Engineer Dr Usman Maijama’a Kallamu said the new complex will provide conducive working environment for judges and kadis to judiciously discharge their duties.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry Idris Yanbiyu Buba, Maijama’a said the complex was abandoned for more than a decade by the previous administration, but the Inuwa Yahaya-led administration deemed it fit to make it lively for quick dispensation of justice.

“This project like my director has said has started ten years ago, and his Excellency the Executive Governor Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya saw it wise to complete it, and as usual he is always at the forefront and committed in providing infrustractural development that keeps Gombe State ahead of other states in the committee of states in the federation of Nigeria, so we thank him most sincerely”.

The commissioner charged the court officials and staff to judiciously put the new edifice into proper use for the benefit of the general populace.

Receiving the keys of the new complex, the Chief Registrar Gombe State Shari’ah Court of Appeal Barrister Ibrahim Jibrin Usman, expressed appreciation to the state governor for completing the complex, describing it as the long awaited dream of the court.

“Actually today I feel happy and impressed in the sense that the promise made to us by His Excellency has come to a fulfillment. This Shari’ah Court of Appeal Complex started so long, it’s over a decade. It was started by the previous administration but due to the lackadaisical attitudes of the then government, the contract went to a coma, we don’t even have any confidence that this project will come back to life. But today by the inception of His Excellency the Governor of Gombe State, he made a promise and fulfilled it. And I’m here collecting the keys and about to enter into my own sense of belonging. On behalf of the honourable Grand Kadi, kadis of the Shari’ah Court of Appeal as well as the entire staff of the Shari’ah Court of Appeal we are very happy, and we are very much grateful for this gesture”, he appreciate.

While expressing satisfaction with the quality of the work, Barrister Ibrahim said the new edifice will give judges and kadis of the court, a conducive working environment to effectively discharge their duties.

He however appealed to the state government the furnish the new edifice for effective utilization and dispensation of justice.

On his part, the Director Building at the Ministry of Works, Housing and Transportation Builder Silvanus Silas, charged the court to imbibe good maintenance culture, adding that with the handing over, the court has full responsibilities of the complex’s management and security.
