The Bauchi State Action Committee on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) has pledged to continue collaborating with relevant authorities to address GBV issues affecting adolescents and children in the state.
The committee’s secretary, Hajiya Talatu Musa made the commitment during an advocacy visit to the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Specialist Hospital, Bauchi Professor Abdulkarim Mairiga Garba, in his office.
The visit aimed to inform the CMD about the committee’s activities and solicit support for establishing a Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) within the hospital.
Earlier in his speech, Professor Abdulkarim Mairiga, commended the committee’s efforts in addressing rape cases and urged them to intensify efforts.
He noted that the hospital is undergoing renovation by the state government and emphasized the need to support government policies and programs for effective service delivery.
Professor Garba Mairiga promised to allocate an office accommodation for the committee to facilitate their activities.
The committee also visited the State Ministry of Education and the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Office to explore ways to collaborate in combating GBV.
