The Councillor representing Bajoga West Ward in Funakaye Local Government Area, Hon. Abubakar Yaya Bajoga, has commended the Gombe State Government and Funakaye Local Government Council for what he described as unprecedented development across the area.
Speaking during an inspection tour of ongoing projects, the councillor said the combined efforts of the state and local governments have transformed several communities within Funakaye.
“Across Funakaye, you will find at least one major project undertaken either by the Executive Governor of Gombe State or the Funakaye Local Government Chairman. From the areas behind General Hospital Bajoga to other parts of the metropolis, the impact is clear,” he said.
Local Government Contributes 60% to Jagabari Project
Hon. Yaya highlighted the Jagabari project under Chilawo Ward as evidence of strong collaboration between both tiers of government.
“At the time we assumed office, the Funakaye Local Government Council provided over 60% of the funding for the Jagabari Project, which cost almost ₦5 billion.
The state government contributed the remaining 40%. This shows our commitment to meaningful development,” he said.
Councillor Rates Government 75–80% Performance
Asked to rate the administration’s performance, the councillor gave the government a high score.
“In terms of development, this government deserves between 75% and 80%. The achievements on ground justify an excellent rating,” he stated.
‘Hon. Sadam Bello is a Model Legislator’
Hon. Yaya also paid glowing tribute to the member representing Funakaye North Constituency in the Gombe State House of Assembly, Hon. Sadam Bello, describing him as one of the most impactful legislators in the state.
“He is my boss and a role model. I have learned a lot from him, and many of the empowerment programmes I conducted in my ward were inspired by his leadership style,” he said.
The councillor noted that Hon. Bello has executed projects across all wards within the constituency, including Bagali, Bajoga East, Bajoga West, Ashaka Magaba, and others.
“Every ward has at least one developmental project credited to Hon. Sadam Bello. His impact is visible and appreciated by the people,” he added.
Empowerment and Scholarship Support
Hon. Yaya explained that his own empowerment programmes include the distribution of bicycles, bags of cement, trader-support grants, and other items to residents of his ward.
He further revealed that Hon. Bello recently awarded scholarships to over 50 students studying at Bajoga Polytechnic.
“In terms of service to the people, no other member of the State House of Assembly in Gombe matches his record. Hon. Sadam Bello continues to stand out,” he said.
