
Participants of the Nigeria Defence College; a premier institution that offers specialised training in management strategies on security and defence matters, are in the Gombe State for a study tour.
The participants who are of Course 34 of the college were in Gombe to study how the State is harnessing its resources for industrial development.
To this end, the participants of the college visited the Dadin-kowa Water Treatment Plant, the Dadin-kowa Dam, the Hydro Power Plant, the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park and Gombe Local Government Area.
The Defence College team were received and adequately briefed by respective officers on the conception, execution and economic objectives of the various projects.
At Gombe Local Government where the visiting team interacted with the management of the council, the chairman Barr Sani Ahmadu Haruna had while addressing the visiting team, informed them of Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s commitment towards laying a solid foundation for industrial development through the provision of critical infrastructure like water supply, power, roads, education and healthcare.
Earlier in his brief remark the team lead Brigadier General Olumide Adeleke Ojo, said the tour is aimed at equipping participants with broader understanding of governance especially in the area of resource management for the benefit of the people.
He commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for having the political will to embark on legacy projects that are geared towards sustainable socio-economic growth and development of the state.
Brigadier General Olumide Ojo also lauded Gombe Local Council Chairman for his pragmatic approach to development areas.
Highlight of the event is the presentation of award for recognition to Gombe Local Government Chairman for his untiring efforts in leading the LGA’s as ALGON Chairman and his transformation drive of Gombe LGA.
Impressed by the recognition, Barr Sani expressed gratitude to the visiting military officers noting that such recognition will spur him to do more.
