In an effort to combat bullying and foster a culture of inclusivity, kindness, and mutual respect, Bold Girls NG has recently conducted a comprehensive anti-bullying training across three major schools in Gombe State.
The campaign was held simultaneously across Hassan Central Junior Secondary School, Government Day Secondary School Orji and Government Girls Mega College Doma on the 13th & 14th of November 2025.
The Bold Girls team, using creative and practical teaching methods engaged students, educating them on the different forms of bullying and emphasizing the vital role of bystanders in preventing and addressing such behaviour.
The training also extended its focus beyond physical abuse, highlighting the often-overlooked but equally harmful forms of bullying, including cyber-bullying, rumor-mongering, and social exclusion.
It further emphasized the value of building positive relationships, encouraging students to see their peers as meaningful connections and potential sources of future opportunities.
Speaking at the event, Safiya Abubakar Ibrahim, Founder of Bold Girls NG, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to combating all forms of bullying within the society.
“At Bold Girls NG, we are committed to tackling the root causes of bullying from the ground up. By teaching students to understand the dangers of bullying today, we are shaping a generation that will refuse to tolerate or perpetuate such harmful behaviors in the future,” Safiya asserted.
She further highlighted the broader mission of Bold Girls NG, which centers on empowering young women to build confidence and lead purpose-driven lives through training, networking, and advocacy. According to Safiya, the organisation’s holistic approach is designed to create a lasting ripple effect that positively impacts individuals, families, and society as a whole.
The campaign, supported by Barr. Sani AA Haruna, Chairman Gombe Local Government, in collaboration with the Gombe State Ministry of Education, also recognized and decorated eight Anti-Bullying Ambassadors across the three participating schools. These ambassadors will serve as advocates for safer, more inclusive, and bully-free school environments.
One of the anti-bullying Ambassadors of Hassan Central Junior Secondary School Khadija Haruna Sulaiman said
“I learnt a lot about all the different types of bullying especially the long term ways it can affect our future and as an Anti Bullying Ambassador I am committed to ensuring that we stop any form of bullying in Hassan Central Junior Secondary School”
Another student of Government Girls Mega College, Precious Tarkuna said, “As boarding students we do experience bullying especially during off teaching hours, but we never see it as bullying, this campaign has taught us to see things differently and I am happy to be made one of the Anti-Bullying Ambassadors of Bold Girls Nigeria to stop this issue in GGC DOMA”
To ensure the sustainability of the campaign’s impact, Bold Girls NG distributed awareness posters, reporting logbooks, and other resource materials to each of the school management. These tools are intended to support ongoing awareness, effective reporting, and prompt response to bullying incidents within the schools.
The school managements expressed appreciation to the Bold Girls NG team for the impactful training, noting that it had broadened the understanding of both students and staff on the far-reaching consequences of bullying.
