Gombe State former lawmaker Honourable Barrister Rambi Ibrahim Ayala has supported some best performing students of Gombe State University (GSU) with cash to encourage their academic journey.

Rambi said the gesture was in fulfillment of his earlier commitment to support certain category of students from the institution.

He said the beneficiaries were those with the best Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) from the department of Christian Religious Studies, Islamic Religious Studies, Sociology, Political Science and Faculty of Law.

“I’m doing this because by assisting and supporting people like you, it will inspire your colleagues who are in school to also continue to aspire to that secret that made you to get the highest CGPA at this point in time. And for you not to relent on your oars since you have not graduated”.

The former member who represented Ɓilliri East in the 5th and 6th assembly, noted that he was highly delighted that the students knew exactly why they are in school.

Rambi said he was born and brought up poor, and therefore knew what it means to be poor. “But I also had the taste and quest for education, I knew what it means to be in school and to get some form of support that will inspire anyone that is determined to get to whatever height he or she might wants to go”, Rambi narrated.

He maintained that education could be a leveler for anybody, noting that his life as an individual, is a testimony of education.

Rambi with a Bachelor Degree of Art (B.A) in Christian Theology, Bachelor Degree of Science (B.Sc) in Sociology, Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism, Masters Degree (M.Sc) in Criminology, a degree in law (LLB), a Doctorate Degree in Criminology and currently a Masters Degree student of law, inspired the students to consider learning as passion.

While declaring that he acquired the certificates not for a job, Barrister Rambi said he is out to inspire others to attain their highest levels.

“There should be no barrier to anybody. For me, going to school is just a passion”, he declared.

He added that for children of the poor, education remains the only factor to serve as leveler, advising the students to refocus and brace up for studies, as they are doing it not for anybody but themselves.

He recalled that in the last Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), he was able to sponsor the registration of over 400 students, who are mostly now in different tertiary institutions.

Hon. Rambi disbelief with the insinuations that JAMB fails students, expressing that “you fail JAMB when you want to fail it”.

He equally encouraged the students on entrepreneurship, hard work and commitment, hinting that “Don’t feel shy to sell what you will not feel shy to buy”.

While wishing them best in their academic endeavor, Rambi hoped they will equally one day lift others in whatever way possible.

Some of the beneficiaries Augustina Danbima and Hamza Aliyu, appreciated Rambi Ayala for keeping to his words, describing the gesture as not only timely, but well deserving.

“I had no money for registration, my mother is a widow hustling to pay for my registration but couldn’t raise any, now God has brought this for me, I’m really excited and appreciative. May God see him through”, Augustina prayed.

On his part, Hamza Aliyu said “I used to buy ten 60-leaves exercise books for my notes, but this time I couldn’t afford more than five, and the courses I registered are up to eight. So securing this scholarship will be so beneficial to me throughout my studies”.

The students assured to use the money judiciously for improved performance.

The national president Tangale Students Union Reuben Raymond commended and appreciated Rambi for always being a source of inspiration and support to students especially the less privileged.

He assured the former lawmaker that as students, they shall never kill his dream and passion to make them attain to their fullest.
