…Says Gombe Among Best Urban Planning States in Nigeria
By Saeed Ahmad Bappah, Gombe
The immediate past Executive Chairman of the Gombe State Urban Planning Development Authority (GOSUPDA), Bappayo Samanja, has reflected on his extensive tenure, emphasizing that his bond with Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya remains steadfast regardless of political appointments.
Reflecting on his departure from the agency, Samanja underscored that true public service transcends holding a specific office or title.
“My relationship with Governor Yahaya goes beyond politics, calling me to serve or relieving me from GOSUPDA will not change anything, we are all out to serve Gombe and its people.”
Samanja highlighted several milestones achieved under his leadership, pointing to heightened public awareness, improved regulatory compliance, and significant revenue generation that surpassed agency targets.
He noted that these strategic strides align directly with the broader land reforms championed by the current administration to drive sustainable urban growth across the state.
Under his watch, GOSUPDA introduced weekly enforcement operations to curb illegal constructions and received recognition from national bodies for elevating Gombe among the top states in urban planning.
Furthermore, civic organizations honored his contributions to community development.
Expressing gratitude to the residents for their continued cooperation, Samanja called for similar support to be extended to his successor to sustain the state’s infrastructural progress.
He also encouraged stakeholders and members of the ruling party to remain united as political activities unfold.
