2027: Gombe South Youth Group Champions Barrister Melah as Pantami’s Running Mate

A coalition of concerned youth from Gombe South has formally called on the People’s Democratic Party gubernatorial candidate Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami to select Barrister Ibrahim Yusuf Melah as his running mate for the upcoming 2027 elections, describing the potential partnership as a transformative vision for the state.

Speaking during a press briefing in Gombe, the group’s spokesperson, Luka Elkanah, emphasized that the choice of a deputy governor is a defining moment that reveals a candidate’s true leadership character.

Elkanah stated that “A running mate is not a footnote; he is a mirror”. The Deputy Governor is not a ceremonial ornament, but the second heartbeat of an administration. Choose a man who merely balances a ticket, and you send a message that you are playing politics. Choose a man who balances your vision, and you send a message that you are building a legacy.”

The youth organization highlighted Barrister Melah, an indigene of Ɓilliri Local Government Area, as a seasoned lawyer and advocate whose reputation is built on years of quiet service rather than political opportunism.

They noted that his inclusion would bridge the divide between generations and regions across the state.

“In a generation addicted to noise, Barrister Melah chose substance. He is the bridge your vision needs. You bring the wisdom of years, and he brings the urgency of now. Together, you would not just govern – you would connect,” Elkanah added.

The motion received broad backing from youth representatives in attendance, who argued that the move is essential for electoral success.

Comrade Ifrema Yuka from Ɓilliri, alongside Dipan Daniel from Kaltungo, Samuel Tagoyara from Shongom, and Sadiq Nyuwar Zakka from Balanga, collectively endorsed the proposal.

“If Professor Pantami wants to win the election with ease, choosing Barrister Ibrahim Yusuf will be his best clue to success come 2027,” the group stated.

The coalition maintains that the proposed Pantami-Melah ticket would represent a “covenant with the future,” moving the state away from politics as usual and toward an era of inclusive and dignity-driven governance.
