Gombe Heavyweights Rally Behind Jamil Gwamna for 2027 Governorship

Posted on July 6, 2026 by Jtimes

A formidable coalition of Gombe State’s most influential stakeholders has officially thrown its weight behind Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, naming the All Progressives Congress (APC) hopeful as their consensus choice for the 2027 gubernatorial election.

A statement signed and made available to Jewel Times by the Spokesperson to Dr Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, Ibrahim Sani Shawai said the endorsement, which signals a significant shift in the state’s political landscape, was finalized during a high-level engagement meeting in Abuja on Sunday, chaired by Dr. Aliyu Modibbo Umar, the Special Adviser on General Duties to the Vice President.

The gathering featured a powerful cross-section of Gombe’s elite, including four former ministers, a cadre of retired military generals and an Air Vice Marshal, alongside seasoned diplomats, permanent secretaries, academics, and industry titans.

This broad-based support underscores a collective desire among the state’s leadership to coalesce around a candidate capable of delivering sustainable progress.

Following extensive deliberations on the state’s political trajectory, the forum unanimously identified Dr. Gwamna as the leader best equipped to champion peace, prosperity, and inclusive development.

“Your endorsement strengthens our resolve to remain focused, disciplined, and people-oriented in our mission,” Dr. Gwamna said, acknowledging the weight of the support.

“Together, we will ensure that development is not only continued but expanded to reach every community, every household, and every citizen.”

The meeting emphasized that this stakeholder platform is designed to complement existing APC structures and the state government rather than act as a parallel political organization.

To translate this support into electoral success, the group moved to establish new Political and Technical Directorates, which will oversee policy research, strategic communication, and intensive grassroots mobilization efforts across all Local Government Areas and wards.

Furthermore, a High-Powered Reconciliation and Stakeholders’ Engagement Committee has been tasked with bridging gaps among former aspirants to foster a unified front ahead of the polls.

The forum called for a shift toward issue-based politics anchored in integrity and evidence-based planning.

This high-profile backing is being viewed by political observers as a major milestone for the Gwamna campaign, serving as a decisive vote of confidence in his vision for Gombe’s future.
