Gombe PDP Questions Multi-Million Naira Gift, Land Allocation to Kano Singer Amidst Public Needs

Posted on July 3, 2026 by Jtimes

The Gombe State Chapter of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed deep concern over the expenditure of public funds and the allocation of public assets by the Gombe State Government.

In a statement signed and made available to newsmen by its State Publicity Secretary Abdulƙadir Ahmad Dukku, the party claims that “The state government has approved the sum of One Hundred and Fifteen Million Naira (₦115,000,000) for the purchase of a Toyota Coaster Bus for a singer from Kano State, in addition to a cash grant of Two Hundred Million Naira (₦200,000,000),” totaling ₦315,000,000 in support.

The PDP argues that this expenditure is misplaced, especially given that Gombe State is currently “grappling with the challenge of 787,619 out of school children”.

According to the party, this total sum “could have been used to return up to 50,000 out of school children through targeted education interventions” or directed toward other essential services like healthcare, infrastructure, and youth empowerment.

The statement further noted that the government has allocated four plots of land in the Shehu Abubakar District Layout to the same beneficiary, a decision the PDP labels a matter of serious concern, “because this layout was recently affected by a revocation exercise that reduced many existing landowners’ plots by half without compensation”.

Asserting that the people of Gombe State deserve an explanation, the PDP calls on the government to justify its action by providing the basis upon which these public resources and assets were allocated.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, and the prudent management of public resources.
