Gombe PDP Dismisses APC Claims, Insists Pantami Has Left the Party

Posted on June 16, 2026 by Jtimes

The Gombe State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has hit back at the All Progressives Congress (APC) following recent claims that Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami remains a member of the APC.

In a press statement signed and made available to Jewel Times by the party’s Publicity Secretary Abdulƙadir Ahmad Dukku titled “PANTAMI IS A PDP MEMBER, AND LEFT APC SINCE!” the PDP described the APC’s assertion as “not only laughable but a display of ignorance of the Electoral Law and Party’s Constitution”.

The party maintains that Professor Pantami is a “bonafide member” who has met all legal requirements for membership.

According to the statement, the PDP holds documentation confirming Pantami’s resignation from the APC, which was acknowledged by his former Ward Chairman.

The PDP further noted that the Chairman of the APC in Pantami Ward had previously acknowledged receiving the resignation letter on May 19, 2026, an event the party says was highlighted in a widely circulated social media post.

“We therefore call on APC members and all Nigerians from the national down to the ward level, as well as the general public, to disregard the misleading claims being circulated by the sinking APC in Gombe State,” the statement added.

The PDP urged the APC to stop what it termed “unnecessary distractions” and instead focus on preparing for the upcoming general election. The party emphasized that this is the third time the APC has held a press conference regarding this same issue, despite what the PDP describes as clear and well-documented evidence.

Challenging the APC to address its own internal affairs, the PDP stated: “If the APC lacks confidence in its candidate, it should address its internal concerns instead of insisting that Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami must stay in their party”.

The statement concluded by reiterating the PDP’s commitment to “issue based campaigns” and providing “credible leadership, development, and good governance” to the people of Gombe State.
