The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State has categorically dismissed the purported conduct of a primary election by unauthorized individuals, declaring the exercise illegal and a threat to the party’s stability.
A statement signed and made available to The Jewel Times by the party’s State Publicity Secretary Abdulkadir Ahmad Dukku, said Under the leadership of Distinguished Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo (Talban Gombe) and State Chairman Major General Amnon Kalaye Kwaskebe (Rtd), the party maintains that all official primary elections have been “successfully concluded” across the state.
Emphasizing that the party remains a “united family without any faction,” the leadership stated it “cannot stand to watch mischief elements causing confusion within the party ranks.”
Consequently, the PDP officially disassociates itself from these unconstitutional activities, describing them as a “threat to party unity in particular and democracy in general.”
The leadership reiterated that the nomination process for all elective positions is finalized, underscored by the recent formal affirmation of Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami as the party’s sole gubernatorial candidate for the 2027 general elections.
In light of this, the party urges all stakeholders, members, supporters, and well-wishers to “shun the activities of such unpatriotic elements who do not want positive development and progress of the people of Gombe State.”
This clarification serves as a direct rebuttal to reports regarding a factional endorsement of Alhaji Ahmad Yayari by the Tanimu Turaki led PDP faction, an act the state leadership explicitly rejects as illegitimate.
