…Says APC Now Stronger, More Inclusive, for Good of Gombe People
Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has formally received the Senator representing Gombe South at the National Assembly, Distinguished Senator Anthony Siyako Yaro into the All Progressives Congress following his defection from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
A statement signed and made available to Jewel Times by the media aide to the lawmaker on strategic communication Yahaya Joel Musa, said Senator Yaro is the latest high-profile figure to join the APC under Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s leadership.
Speaking at the reception, Governor Inuwa Yahaya described Senator Anthony Yaro’s APC entry as “a major boost for unity and development in Gombe South.”
He said “APC is now stronger and more inclusive, with capacity to deliver on the aspirations of all Gombe people. We welcome Distinguished Senator Anthony Siyako Yaro not as a stranger, but as a partner in building a greater Gombe”.
In his remarks, Senator Siyako Yaro appreciated Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his leadership and warm reception.
He stated that his decision to join the APC was driven by the need to align Gombe South with the center for effective representation and development.
Senator Yaro declared that “I did not come to APC to take from anyone. I came to add value and work with the party leadership for the progress of our people. Gombe South first”
This follows the governor’s earlier success in bringing three federal lawmakers into the APC from opposition parties; House of Representatives Minority Whip, Hon. Ali Isa JC; Hon. Abdullahi El-Rasheed of Dukku/Nafada Federal Constituency; and Hon. Inuwa Garba of Yamaltu-Deba Federal Constituency.
“These defections further consolidate the APC’s dominance in Gombe State ahead of the 2027 general elections”, the statement added.
Present at the reception were Chief Whip of the 10th House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Usman Bello Kumo, and APC Deputy National Financial Secretary, Hon. Hamma Adama (Dattuwa) Ali Kumo.
