Despite ongoing renovations of dilapidated schools across Bauchi State by the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), pupils of Unguwar Harɗo Primary School in Miri District of Bauchi Local Government Area are still forced to receive lessons under trees and scorching sun.

The pupils have faced numerous challenges due to non conducive environment and commitment of teachers during school hours.

Our Education correspondent, Jibrin Hussaini Kundum, observed this when the monitoring team from the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), inspected various schools of the Bauchi South Senatorial District during the 2026/2027 schools resumption.

The Director Monitoring and Evaluation of SUBEB, Mallam Abbas Abdulmumini who led the team, expressed dismay over the situation and the negative attitude of the head-teacher of the School.

He noted that the Bauchi State Government, through the leadership of the Executive Chairman SUBEB, Alhaji Adamu Muhammad Duguri would not tolerate such misconduct on duty.

Mallam Abbas, maintained that the exercise was a routine monitoring of schools to ascertain the teaching and learning process of both teachers and students, with the aim of improving retention and enrollment of students in public schools.

The SUBEB Director, Monitoring and Evaluation also expressed satisfaction with the students’ enrollment and the community’s effort in construction of a block of classrooms in the school.

The director asked the Education Secretary of the Bauchi Local Education Authority, Mrs. Talatu Yakubu, to take necessary actions over the absence of the Head Teacher of the Unguwar Hardo Primary School.
