The Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Dr. Abubakar Shehu Abubakar the third, CFR, has been commended for conferring the traditional title of Sodangin Gombe on Hajiya Zainab Sa’idu Alkali, wife to the Honourable Minister of Transportation.
The commendation was made by the Emir of Funakaye, Alhaji Yakubu Muhammad Kwairanga, during a courtesy and appreciation visit on the emir by the new Sodangin Gombe and her entourage.
Alhaji Yakubu Kwairanga described the conferment of the title on Hajiya Zainab Sa’idu Alkali as timely, citing her good character and cordial relationship with the people.
He advised her to remain humble, loyal to the emirate, and to maintain regular attendance at the palace whenever required.
Earlier speaking on behalf of Sa’idu Alƙali family, Alhaji Bala Muhammad Magaji (Magajin Garin Gombe) expressed sincere gratitude and happiness over the honour bestowed on the family by the emir.
He said “This title will further motivate us to intensify our services to community and Gombe Emirate” .
In their separate remarks, Hajiya Aishatu Kukandaka (the Dokajin Funakaye) praised the emir’s foresight in conferring traditional titles on women, noting that the appointment of Hajiya Zainab Sa’idu Alkali would further strengthen women participation in community development.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the visit, Hajiya Zainab Sa’idu Alkali, the new Sodangin Gombe, expressed delight over the honour while conveying deep appreciations to the emir, family members, friends, and well-wishers who stand by her throughout the ceremony.
She pledged to uphold responsibilities of the title by supporting the activities of Gombe Emirate and contributing meaningfully to the development of the community.
