The Nigeria Women Rights and Empowerment Network (NIWOREN) has promised to empower women and create awareness on gender equality among the women of Kundum Village of Bauchi Local Government Area towards improving their livelihood.

The Executive Director of the organization, Adah Samuel, gave the indication while leading a team to inspect Kundum Community in preparation for implementing the project in the village.

She explained that “The rationale behind this exercise is to equip and empower the women with skills that boost their capacities in decision-making”.

Miss Adah emphasized the need for gender equality, stating that women deserve equal opportunities for a brighter society.

She expressed hope that implementing the project in Kundum will boost women’s capabilities.

In her address earlier at the Kundum Ward Head’s place, Mrs. Precious Ojonya, said NIWOREN is a non-governmental organization based in Bauchi, with aims to championing women’s rights, empowerment, gender-based violence response and prevention, skills acquisition, healthcare, and education.

She explained that the project is in partnership with Development Exchange Centre (DEC), Bauchi State, and funded by Bread for the World.

According to Mrs. Precious, they are expecting the community to provide a conducive environment for training and empowering rural women.

Speaking shortly after receiving the project team, the Ward Head of Kundum, Mallam Nuhu Idris, promised to support the campaign effectively towards achieving the desired objectives.

He charged members of the community, particularly women who are expected to benefit from the exercise, to take advantage of the project, while praying for the success of the program.
