The Chairman of the Interim Management Committee of the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park, Mallam Bashir Nuhu, has described the establishment of the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park in Dadi-Kowa, Gombe State, as a strategic initiative to diversify the economy, reduce dependence on oil revenue, and build a sustainable industrial base.
Addressing newsmen on the progress of the project, Mallam Nuhu emphasized the significance of the industrial park, noting its potential to profoundly impact both Gombe State and Nigeria at large.
He stated that industrial parks serve as catalysts for economic growth, attracting both domestic and foreign investment.
According to him, the park acts as a cornerstone for development, not only by attracting businesses but also by generating employment, enhancing regional competitiveness, and fostering sustainable growth.
He commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for spearheading the establishment of the park as a means of drawing investment, promoting economic growth, and creating job opportunities in the state and the wider North East subregion.
Mallam Nuhu further disclosed that 12 manufacturing firms are currently constructing their sites within the park, while another 14 are awaiting government approval to begin operations.
He also noted that the park is equipped with essential infrastructure, including road networks, solar-powered streetlights, water supply, security, and housing estates for investors and their employees.
Speaking on behalf of the investors, the Factory Manager of Premier Seed Nigeria Limited, Mr. Victrus Audu, expressed appreciation for the facilities provided, which he said attracted the company to invest in the state.
Mr. Audu commended the state government for creating a conducive environment with reliable power supply, water, roads, and security – the amenities he described as vital for attracting investors and ensuring smooth industrial operations.
He also appreciated the Governor for giving an approval of about 5.2 billion Naira for the completion of infrastructural and other works that remain in the industrial park.
With the recent approval Gombe State Government has injected about 24 billion Naira into the industrial park.
