Fire: Commissioner Assesses Damage At Gombe Medical Store

In line with Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s directives, the Commissioner for Works Housing and Transportation Engineer Usman Kallamu Mai Jama’a has led powerful team of experts to include the Permanent Secretary of the ministry to assess the razed down Gombe Central Medical Stores.

Shortly after the assessment tour, Engineer Kallamu told newsmen that the damage caused by the fire will be quantified within 24 hours, assuring to come up with modalities of reactivation of the store.

The Commissioner who expressed dismay over the incident, described it as unfortunate calling for donor agencies and development partners to come to the aid of Gombe State by providing another consignment of the drugs lost to fire to ensure success of the forthcoming polio immunization exercise and other killer diseases.

While appreciating the State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for prompt response by visiting the site of the inferno, the commissioner also commend the State Fire Service for its quick intervention that contained the fire from further spread.

He assured the citizens that the state government will put additional preventive measures in place to prevent reoccurrence.

The fire which started around 2:00am on Monday, destroyed drugs, medical equipment, consumables and child killer disease vaccines to include two million doses of polio vaccines amongst others.
