In an effort to reduce youth restivness and encourage self-reliance, the Arewa Development Support Initiative (ADSI) has organized a two day training workshop on monie point enrollment and cyber security for 100 youths in Gombe State.
Speaking during the training, the ADSI State Coordinator Hannatu Ahmed Yaro, said the initiative was born out of concerns to address youths restivness and reduce the rate of crimes in the 19 northern states for a prosperous North and Nigeria.
“We are going to train them on financial transactions, we are going to give them ATM cards to open accounts for interested individuals, this will make them get employed, help themselves and help others as well”, the coordinator noted.
Hannatu said ADSI is an initiative of like-minded friends who have the North at heart, and who care for its development and progress.
She said being a self-oriented initiative, every member of ADSI contributes a minimum of ₦2,000 monthly, which when accrued over time, is utilized on projects that will bring about development for north and its citizens.
She said in the first project executed, they were able to train hundreds of people across five skills, a development she said got many people employed.
The coordinator maintained that after the training, they will monitor how the beneficiaries are putting the knowledge acquired into use.
On his part, the ADSI Organizing Secretary Amjad Garba, said the training is meant to support the less privileged members of the society on how to be productive and contribute to nation building.
While calling on the trainees to utilize the knowledge learnt for self-reliance and development, Amjad appealed to governments, groups and individuals to support the initiative for wider coverage.
Some beneficiaries David Afesomi, Michael Victor and Mojison Emmanuel appreciated ADSI for the training, maintaining that with the initiative, joblessness can be reduced to the bearest minimum. They equally called on other states to follow suit.
On their part, the Monie Point agents Nabil Abubakar and Maryam Muhammad, commended ADSI for the initiative praying for sustenance of the project.
