The Gombe State Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transportation Engineer Usman Maijama’a Kallamu alongside the State Project Coordinator of Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), Engineer Salisu Abdullahi, has flagged-off the payment of compensation to property owners affected by the construction of some rural roads in Yamaltu-Deba and Kwami local government areas.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony at the District Head Palace s of Waɗe, Ɗukul and Kiyari, the commissioner stressed the commitments of Governor Inuwa Yahaya led administration in enhancing infrastructural development rural communities.
The Commissioner who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Alhaji Idris Yambiu Buba, expressed gratitudes to Governor Inuwa Yahaya for approving the RAAMP project which he said is directly impacting on the lives of the benefiting communities.
He emphasized the project’s objectives to open up communities at the grassroots, improving the living standard of the common man and enhancing economic opportunities.
He said “Considering the fact that our governor is the governor of the masses and always have them at heart, that why he approved these important projects to enable the local farmers access their farms and transport their farm produce without difficulties for improved food security.”
The commissioner commended the property owners for their corporation and willingness to surrender their properties even without being paid any compensation to allow for development in their areas.
In their remarks, the Chairman Yamaltu-Deba Local Government Council Alhaji Abubakar Hassan Ɗifa and his counterpart of Kwami Dr. Ahmad Wali Doho who was represented by his deputy Alhaji Ɗahiru Ajiya, appreciated Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his gesture by approving the project and the payment of compensation to the property owners affected by the roads construction in their areas, pledging of their total support to his administration.
Earlier in his address, the State Project Coordinator of the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) Engineer Salisu Abdullahi, highlighted the commitment of Governor Inuwa Yahaya to rural transformation.
He revealed that five rural roads connecting several agrarian communities were approved by the Governor across the state totalling about 77 kilometers.
“I want to thank His Excellency, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for keying into RAAMP Programme to bring about development in his state”.
The Project Coordinator explained that RAAMP is an initiative supported by the World Bank aimed to improving rural access to markets for easy transportation of agricultural produce, and to equally strengthen good management of state and rural road networks
In their votes of thanks, the District Head of Waɗe Abdullahi Jidda, that of Ɗukul Alhaji Mohammed Abdulkadir as well the representative of the District Head of Malam Sidi Alhaji Malam Abdullahi Malumta, expressed joy over the good leadership style of Governor Inuwa Yahaya.
The roads to be constructed are Waɗe to Garin Ƙoshi to Kubu Road, and Kurjele to Garin Bawa Road in Yamaltu-Deba Local Government. Others are Ɗukul to Gafara to Gasel to Shanin Fulani to Shanin Tera Road, as well as Kiyari to Yame to Gadam Road in Kwami local Government.
