The Gombe State Human Capital Development Programme Office has convened a crucial meeting with various stakeholders to outline strategies for the take off of poverty alleviation program.
The State Focal Person for the programme, Dr. Isiyaku Babayo, emphasized the importance of the meeting in providing essential data and forming a roadmap for the programme’s implementation.
“This engagement is vital for collecting data and strategizing the rollout of the Human Capital Development Programme in Gombe State,” Dr. Babayo stated.
Dr. Babayo, who also serves as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Donors and Development Partners Coordination, highlighted that the programme aims to address critical areas such as education, skills development, and employment.
“Our goal is to align our efforts with the state’s vision of sustainable development and to improve the well-being of our citizens,” he explained.
The stakeholders’ meeting brought together a diverse group of participants, including government officials, community leaders, educators, and representatives from various sectors.
Discussions focused on formulating actionable strategies to enhance educational opportunities, improve skill acquisition, and create employment avenues, thereby addressing the root causes of poverty in the state.
The initiative follows the recent inauguration of the Human Capital Development Council by the Gombe State government.
Spearheaded by Deputy Governor Manasseh Daniel Jatau, who serves as the council’s Chairman, the council is set to drive the objectives of the Human Capital Development Programme.
The formation of this council underscores the government’s commitment to a coordinated and strategic approach to human capital development.
In his remarks during the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Governor Jatau outlined the council’s mission.
“We aim to ensure that every citizen of Gombe State has the opportunity to develop their potential and contribute meaningfully to the state’s economy,” he said.
“Creating a conducive environment for learning, skill development, and employment is essential for achieving sustainable economic growth”, he added.
As the Human Capital Development Programme takes shape, stakeholders remain optimistic about its potential to transform communities, reduce poverty, and foster inclusive growth across Gombe State.
The collaborative efforts of all involved parties are expected to drive significant positive change and set a strong foundation for the state’s future development.
