In a significant boost to educational infrastructure, the Northeast Development Commission (NEDC) has allocated a 250-bed capacity hostel to the Gombe State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Kaltungo. This initiative underscores Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s unwavering commitment to advancing education in the state.

During a visit by a delegation from the NEDC and the Gombe State Ministry of Higher Education, the college’s Acting Provost, Dr. Umar Mohammed, expressed his profound gratitude for the commission’s generosity. He highlighted that this initiative is a testament to Governor Yahaya’s dedication to improving the education sector.

Dr. Mohammed noted that the new structure would significantly alleviate the accommodation challenges faced by the college, which currently hosts a large number of students with many more eager to enroll. “This project is a clear reflection of Governor Yahaya’s vision for a robust educational infrastructure. His support and the commission’s intervention will greatly enhance the learning environment and attract more students,” he stated.

He thanked the commission for selecting his institution as a beneficiary of this laudable project and called for further developmental projects in the college.

Adamu Mashafi, a senior officer who led the team, emphasized that the decision to allocate the project to the college followed a meeting with the Acting Provost. He assured that the project would commence soon, stressing the importance of a harmonious relationship between the college and the contractor to ensure the project’s successful execution. Mashafi also hinted at more upcoming projects from the NEDC.

The visit was further graced by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Gombe State, represented by Madaki Al’amin. He expressed his joy and appreciation for the NEDC’s intervention.

Al’amin noted that Governor Yahaya consistently shows a keen interest in the educational sector and is always ready to support initiatives that enhance educational development. He thanked the NEDC for their invaluable support.

This allocation marks a significant step towards improving the living conditions of students at the Gombe State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Kaltungo, thereby contributing to the overall development of the education sector in the region.
