Gombe State University (GSU) said studies will soon commence at its Dukku Campus as Faculty of Environmental Sciences.
The Chairman Governing Council of the university Senator Joshua lidani made this known during a press briefing on the achievements recorded by the institution.
Lidani said “Following the approval of the State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for the establishment of the faculty in a facility earlier designed as school of nursing Dukku, the campus has now been completed and is ready for use by Gombe State University. Admission into the faculty would be done in due course”.
While appreciating the state government for reviving the education sector, the chairman said the upgraded secondary and the newly created mega schools will serve as feeder to the state university and other tertiary institutions in the country.
Speaking on the university’s achievements, Senator Lidani said the governing council of the institution has approved the promotion of 107 academic staff to various ranks and positions, out of which 4 were promoted to the rank of professors, 18 as readers while 85 others promoted to various ranks in the university system.
He said the council has equally approved the promotion of 57 non teaching staff to various positions in their respective cadre.
The chairman appreciated Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his unflinching support to the university, a development he said made Gombe State University best among equals.
