The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Gombe State has elected a new Executive Committee to lead the organization for the next two years.
The election, held at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Gombe, saw a demonstration of internal democracy as party leaders gathered to decide the council’s future.
In his inaugural address, the newly elected Chairman, Hon. Muhammad Gana Aliyu of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), expressed gratitude to the members for the mandate.
He pledged that his administration would prioritize transparency and an all-inclusive approach to strengthen democratic participation within the state.
“We appreciate the confidence reposed in us,” Aliyu stated. “Our commitment is to run a tenure that fosters unity and strengthens the foundation of our public participation.”
The election was witnessed by a national delegation led by Hon. Ibrahim Suleiman, who praised the Gombe State chapter for its cohesion.
Representing the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), the Executive Secretary of INEC Gombe, Hajiya Halima Bakari, commended the peaceful conduct of the polls.
She noted that “strong internal democracy within party councils provides the necessary foundation for broader democratic process.”
While eight positions were filled unopposed, the seat for Treasurer was a point of contention. Comrade Auwal Ibrahim of the Action Alliance (AA) secured the position after defeating Auwal Abba Barde of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in a 8-4 vote.
The newly inaugurated leadership reflects a broad coalition of political interests.
The newly elected IPAC leaders are Hon. Muhammad Gana Aliyu from Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) as Chairman, Hon. Abdulhamid Sadiq from BOOT Party emerged as Deputy Chairman, Comrade Auwal Ibrahim of the Action Alliance (AA) was elected as Treasurer, the position of Secretary goes to Hon. Abubakar Sadiq S. Goro of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as Hon. A’isha Adamu from Accord Party became Assistant Secretary.
Others are Hon. Yakubu Abba Musa from Advanced Democratic Party (ADP) who emerged as Organizing Secretary, Hon. Ali Adamu from Youth party (YP) became Publicity Secretary, while Financial Secretary goes to Hon. Aliyu Abdullahi of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP). The Legal Adviser of the state council is Hon. Yahaya Muhammad Tongo of the Action People’s Party (APP).
